I’m a writer from Cape Town, South Africa, who mostly writes about criminal justice, ecological crisis, and attempts to use the one to solve the other. Longer pieces are deeply reported and researched. Occasionally, I also write about the things that surprise or amuse or dismay me, which might be a career-defining rugby game, or the difficulty early AI had with hats, or a fire that destroys a rare library collection. For the last five years, I’ve been living in Geneva, with my partner and, recently, our child and dog.
